2009 Solstice Scavenger hunt

A scavenger hunt taking place on the shortest night of the year. That’s right. The sun sets at 9:11pm, and will raise again at 5:11. Like Dolly Parton, you’ll be workin’ 9 to 5.

The scavenger hunt will start at 9:11pm, after the Fremont Solstice Parade and party, on Saturday June 20th.

We will meet on top of Kite Hill at Gasworks Park.

From there people can head off in other directions, convening again for a couple coffee breaks throughout the night. There will be a breakfast at the conclusion of the ride, which will end at 5:11am. All manifests/lists must be submitted by that time to be counted.
$10 will get you breakfast and coffee in the morning. There will be some meetups throughout the evening for people to compare lists, hang out, have some coffee, and socialize.

We are hoping that this becomes a fun annual event, bringing out a diverse crowd that just wants to ride their bikes all night. Make sure you bring lights, a helmet, a bag, and a lock.

This a labor of love, put together by people that love bikes, the Seattle bike community. At the end of the ride, there will be a home cooked, buffet style meal, with both vegan and non-vegan options. In order to ensure we have enough food, please pre-register and pay so we can purchase the food and start preparing early. Being an all night event, it becomes a little more difficult to do things last minute. Your help and understanding in this is greatly appreciated. The success of this event is dependent on the lead time and planning that takes place prior to 9:11pm on Saturday, June 20th.

If you have any other questions, concerns, or bright ideas, Email Ryan

If you have a specific spoke card number that you would like, please let us know in the “instructions” field. Otherwise, you will get one that we pick.

If you are not wanting to ride, but want to take part, your help would be much appreciated. People are needed to help out at some of the checkpoints, as well as to help with breakfast. Breakfast will be at Louisa Boren Park on Capital Hill, the best place in Seattle to watch the sunrise!

Hmmmm… (look of confusion) How about the good old fashion way? You can just show up to Gasworks and we go from there. I’m sure there will be people signing up last minute, so just find me at Gasworks.. I’ll be the guy with the bike, with my clothes on. See you tonight!
