Rasmus Gjesing can be found with his small crew of people in East Copenhagen- innovating and building beautiful works of art for the bicycle. They do it for the love of it. If you make it to Copenhagen, definitely stop in and say hello. They are pushing the limits in design and doing things their own way, which I can appreciate. They have a showroom as well as a workshop.

The hubs are interesting, you build them in parts. The wire brake looks rad, and they have some interesting complete bike setups as well. Check them out HERE.

They had me at the woodgrain hubs, which I saw on Fixed Gear Leeds.

I love me some woodgrain.

Bicycle Film Festival call for entries extended

EXTENDED SUBMISSION DEADLINE MARCH 27 2010

The Bicycle Film Festival screens films and videos documenting, depicting, promoting and supporting bike culture in all it’s forms. Films can be any length, but to be eligible for our shorts programs, we prefer films under 10 minutes. Let’s get some Northwest films in there!

Defgrip will be presenting the BMX Shorts and wants you to be a part of the program.

The BMX program is a fun one, and this is a shout out to all the bmx riders out there. The deadline has been extended to March 27th. Don’t sleep. Get a video in there.

Major Taylor Zine

Chris Piascik had a piece in ART VELO and has kept it going with some wonderful art surrounding the bicycle. He had a run of Major Taylor’s sayings that he has compiled into a zine and made a limited run of 50. Available signed and numbered, they are $12 each and look fantastic. Great job Chris!

Cetma Half Rack

I saw this over on Urban Velo.

I have a Cetma 5 rail rack on my rain bike- and love it for hauling stuff rain or shine. This is a cleaner looking mounting system, that is supposed to be super strong as well. It retails for $120 powdercoated, or $100 if you want bare metal. I like the little knob things that you can mount lights onto as well. More info and pictures at the Cetma Cargo site.

The boys over at Projekt-BMX found this somewhere. It’s definitely worth the watch. It looks like a great addition to the Train Wreck Olympics- Where the question of the day is “What’s the worst that could happen?”

It goes along the same line as Shea Nyquist’s Tall BMX- in which the riding is amazing. (wait till you see what happens!)

I think this is one of the coolest themed races I’ve seen in a while. We here in Seattle have some great people doing our race fliers and spokecards- people like Christauf and Greghxc.

When planning race, as I’ve mentioned earlier, a theme is helpful. Though a race because it’s Wednesday might be very successful, a larger holiday or event is usually a better bet. I haven’t seen a Pi race before and I love it. It also happens to fall on a Sunday, which is a perfect race day. Those folks back east know what’s up.
